School Supply Giveaway Our Chance to Connect With Murphysboro

By Stephanie Ward
Shortly after the VBS Family Night we begin counting down the days to the School Supply Giveaway. Now, for those of you who don’t know what a school supply giveaway is, it is simple. A huge event where hundreds of people come to enjoy food, fun and of course, get free school supplies!

So, you may be asking yourself, what goes on during the School Supply Giveaway? Well this is a fantastic question and I am so glad that you asked!

There will be…

Prayer Tent - Are you in spiritual need? Want someone to pray with you? That will be available all day! Please don’t miss this opportunity to draw yourself closer to God! If you have a spiritual need we are here for you!!!

Games - kickball, whiffle ball etc… and we have prizes!!

Snow Cones and Hot Dogs - Even if you don’t want school supplies, please come eat a delicious hot dog and follow it up with a sugary, sweet dessert!

Face Painting - That’s right, we have some of the most talented face painters in southern Illinois ready to paint a work of art on your face (or hand).

Free Haircuts - Our stylists cut over 200 heads of hair last year!

A Firetruck - No. No. Don’t worry, your hot dogs are not on fire, it’s just there to spray water on anyone who wants to run through it!

School Supplies! - Of course at a school supply giveaway there will be plenty of school supplies! We will have bags full of supplies that your children need to start the year off right! Supplies will be available on a first come first serve basis!

We are so blessed to be able to partner with Servants for Christ for this event! If you feel called to donate to our cause we always except school supplies, money, your time and most importantly your prayers!!

The giveaway will be held on August 9th from 10:00 am- 1:00pm at Longfellow Park in Murphysboro, IL.

If you have any questions regarding the School Supply Giveaway you can contact Berean Christian Church at 618-684-6601 from 9am-1pm, Monday-Friday.
